Community Lending Shelf bundling up the winter season, moving on to spring

Spring officially arrives this week, and the Community Lending Shelf is winding down the winter season with one final day for the Coats For Everyone program.

Director Lucinda Watkins says anyone that needs them can check out what they have available for winter outerwear, snow pants and more from 1 until 4pm on Friday, March 20th. Watkins says “pretty busy, actually, pretty steady because we had open hours this year – that was a little bit more than we’ve had in the past – we found a steady stream of people that were coming in for winter outerwear.”

The Community Lending Shelf is located on 50th Street in the ‘old fire hall’ building. Watkins says “I would say with us being in the new location for the last year or so, I think we have had an increase in donations as well as an increase of more people knowing that we exist and coming and shopping. More donations, more people, more volunteers, it has been a good year being in that building.”

They will also have a fun, free shopping event for teenagers with pizza and drinks from 4 until 6pm on Thursday, March 19th. Everyone is welcome.
