Despite having their 10 game winning streak snapped, the Innisfail Eagles still have the most victories in the league with just one game remaining before the playoffs.
Innisfail suffered a 6-4 defeat in Devon at the hands of the Barons on Saturday, January 24th. The Barons won the special teams battle as they netted a shorthanded goal and went 2-5 on the power play. The Eagles were 0-5 with the man advantage. Former Olds Grizzly Jeremy Klessens had a goal and an assist in the loss for Innisfail.
The Birds (12-3-0) will battle for first place in the regular season finale at home on Saturday, January 31st when they host the Lacombe Generals (11-4-0). The Generals are just two points back of Innisfail and the Camrose Bruins (11-2-2) in the standings in the nine team league. The last game for the Bruins is in Camrose on Saturday versus the winless/last place Morinville Kings (0-15-0).
Innisfail’s 10-game winning streak began with a forfeit victory over Morinville on October 26th and it continued through a 1-0 shutout triumph over Stony Plain on January 18th. The Eagles had begun the 2025-2026 campaign 2-2 with a 8-6 win in Tofield on October 4th, a 5-2 loss at Camrose on October 11th, they beat the northern Birds 7-4 in Stony Plain on October 18th, and then they dropped a 8-5 decision to the Wetaskiwin Longhorns at home on October 19th.
