Accredited Supports to the Community (ASC) and the Olds RCMP are teaming up to try and bring some holiday cheer to the community.
According to Joanne MacDonald with ASC, Cram the Cruiser is on Saturday, December 13th in the Olds Walmart parking lot from noon until 4pm. MacDonald says “ASC has been serving southern Alberta for over 50 years, but the Healthy Families Program itself has been proudly serving Mountain View County and surrounding rural areas since 2003 and since that time we have served hundreds of families. So we have partnered with Olds RCMP. We reached out to Staff Sergeant Jamie Day there who is a strong advocate for community partnerships and he and his detachment we’re very excited to support the initative.” MacDonald notes that every unwrapped toy donation will stay right here in the community to make Christmas brighter for families across Mountain View County.
Meantime, she explains more about ASC’s Healthy Families Program. She says “we work with families in Olds, Cremona, Sundre, Carstairs, Didsbury, and all the surrounding rural communities. We focus on strengthening parent/child relationships, teaching coping skills, and monitoring child development. Again, it is a free and voluntary program and it is just about offering hope and steady support for sometimes when you are in the thick of things with parenting it can sometimes be a little bit challenging and we will just walk alongside those families.” MacDonald adds, if people are interested in getting referrals to the Healthy Families Program they can call 1-866-556-4122.
