Big day of fundraising: Annual boot drive, charity hockey game both set for December 3

When an upcoming charity hockey game is over, the big winner will be the Olds Christmas Angels Society.

Constable Mitch Price with the Olds RCMP points out that the third annual Battle with the Broncos: Police versus Fire is set for next month. He says “the Boot Drive that the Olds Fire puts on every year, we are going to run in conjunction with our game this year. With Police and Fire both being involved in the Boot Drive and the hockey game, we figured we would just partner them up. So the Boot Drive will run as normal, December 3rd during the day. Any donations that are received during that Boot Drive, a separate ticket is going to be given out to that individual to be entered into a draw at the game that night.”

Members of Olds College’s ACAC women’s hockey team will be mixed in to play alongside Olds RCMP on one team and Olds Fire Department members on the other. Paisley Arntsen, Captain of Olds College’s ACAC women’s hockey team, is looking forward to participating in it for the third year in a row. She says “it will be the same as last year, we will have police and fire, and then the Broncos are split up. We drafted us into two teams – half of us are with the police and half us are with the fire. This is really awesome, it is a great community event and we get to see all the girls that we help coach and do camps with all year. There is always a great turnout, so it is a really cool event to be a part of.”

The Battle with the Broncos on December 3rd at the Sportsplex at 7pm will include door prizes, a shoot to win contest for $10,000, three large raffle prizes, and a 50/50 draw.
