The countdown to Christmas is on, and so too is the countdown to Midnight Madness in the Town of Olds.
Leon Durand with Uptown Olds highlights the fact that retailers love it because it is a massively attended shop local event and there is a social component to it as well. He says “I believe 43 years ago we started doing this and it has now spread to other communities in Alberta around us but we started it all and it has been our most successful promotion for retail in that time period.”
Durand adds, 6pm until midnight on Friday, November 21st is the official time for it but many Uptowne Olds businesses will have promotions during the day as well. He says “of course there are hot dogs, and there is hot chocolate and coffee at the Scotiabank. We bring down the Uptowne Olds bbq so they can cook on that. Lots of businesses will have their own promotions going on, not just for product but some people will have hot chocolate or coffee and donuts, it is just a lot of fun.”
