Hit the brake, drop off a donation during charity checkstop on December 6

For nearly three decades the Innisfail RCMP charity checkstop has helped direct the generosity of the community to deserving and important local organizations.

Staff Sergeant Ian Ihme, Innisfail RCMP Detachment Commander, points out that last year they collected their second highest total ever with more than $16,500 in donations coming in during the charity checkstop. He says “the goal is always just to raise as much as we can, right? The (Innisfail) Food Bank, obviously, needs a lot of help during the Christmas season. There is a lot of people that are struggling out there. So, yeah, we just try to generate as much good cheer as we can and whatever people are willing to donate, that works for us.”

They’ll be set up for the charity checkstop next to the Innisfail Legion from 10am until 3pm on Saturday, December 6th. This year it will benefit three organizations – the Innisfail Food Bank, the Innisfail Christmas Bureau, and the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre. Ihme says “lots of ways they can contribute. Obviously, cash donations or cheque to those three charities as well as new toys, food donations, and new clothes as well.”
