An excellent 2025 edition of the Cremona Lions annual fundraising garage sale and charity auction is in the books.
Past President Bruce Rumsey points out that they did a little bit better than last year, which was surprising because the Toronto Blue Jays were in Game 7 of the World Series on Saturday as well. He says “so we were quite surprised with the turn out. I would say we had somewhere around 75 people. Very good, I was quite surprised. It seems a lot more of the younger crowd is attending, which was really nice to see. We had a real mixture of older people and younger people. I really want to thank the younger people for supporting us this year.”
When it comes to the proceeds from the event, Rumsey notes that it helps their charities. He says “we just had an incident the other day where some people in the community lost their house due to fire. So obviously, we have cash donation to them right away to tide them over until they can get something more permanent. It goes to things like that and it goes to our scholarships, and supporting local rodeo. You know, the local event like that. So any of our local charities, it goes towards that.” Learn more about their community projects online at cremonalions.ca.
