The Didsbury Museum is once again reflecting on the veterans from the Town of Didsbury and Mountain View County who served our country.
The banners honouring local veterans are up on the Town of Didsbury’s light posts this month. Museum Manager Dawn Stewart says “any of those vets that you see in the banners, they were humans. They were people that contributed to our Town and our County, and lived lives, had ancestors. It is a really, really important part of our history to acknowledge. So it is the one time of year that we really hope that people come to read the stories in the museum.”
Ahead of Remembrance Day, Stewart encourages everyone to come in and read their stories. She says “it is a great opportunity to come in and learn about some of our vets here in Didsbury. Learn about the military past, World War I, World War II. We actually do have some vets that served in both World War I and World War II that were part of the Didsbury community.”
The Didsbury Museum will be open on Remembrance Day starting at 11am and it will host the Sunset Ceremony outdoors on the grounds at 4:45pm. Visitors can bring flashlights or candles to help illuminate the night during the ceremony. Follow them on Facebook here.
