A chance to listen to the music of a legendary Canadian singer-songwriter is coming up in Olds next month.
Duane Steele and his band are bringing their show – Troubadour: The songs of Gordon Lightfoot to the Fine Arts Centre on Saturday, November 1st.
Since April, he points out that they sold out three shows in Edmonton, plus they’ve made stops in Grande Prairie, Red Deer, Camrose, and more. Steele says “the response has been really good. You know, people that come out to the show have loved it. They get a chance to see it and you can peruse our Facebook page Troubadour – The Songs of Gordon Lightfoot to sort of get an idea of as well what the show looks like and sounds like too. People seem to really enjoy it.”
He adds, they play about two dozen of Gordon Lightfoot’s songs during the show and tickets are available online at duanesteele.com. Steele notes that “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” is one of their favourites to play. He says “because of its nature, because it was a poignant song about a real event that happened, and people lost their lives in that event and stuff, so we wanted to get it right. Every night when we play it, the crowd responds to, you know, one of the best to that song. So it really feels good to be able to present that one.”
