Town of Olds Fire Department hosting open house during Fire Prevention Week

Fire Prevention Week stretches out for seven rungs of the ladder from October 5th through the 11th.

Sarah Manton, the Fire Prevention Officer with the Town of Olds Fire Department, points out that the theme this year is “charge into fire safety” which surrounds lithium-ion batteries in your home. She says “litium-ion batteries can be a really big fire hazard when they are damaged, overheated or improperly charged. They can explode, so they burn extremely hot and they release toxic gases and they are in pretty much everything in our homes at this time.”

The Olds Fire Department will host its annual open house from 6pm until 8:30 on Wednesday, October 8th with activities for kids, and tours of the Fire Hall.
