Kids Cancer Care held a ribbon cutting for Camp Kindle’s nearly $9 million expansion and accessibility project over the weekend.
Camp Kindle has been around since 2010, it is located near Water Valley and Tracey Martin – CEO of the Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta – says hundreds of people came out to join them on Saturday, September 26th for the ribbon cutting including their kids and families, plus their partners, and donors.
Martin notes that their mission is doing their best for kids and setting them up for success as they are going through cancer treatment. She says “this whole thing is really about ‘how do we provide more spaces at Camp Kindle to connect them to their childhood?’ because a lot of these kids when they go through treatment, don’t get to experience a normal childhood. So ‘how can we help give that back to kids?’ in different ways.”
Martin highlights the fact that their capacity at Camp Kindle for their mission based program is usually about 120 kids a week. She adds, they work with the Alberta Children’s Hospital to sign kids and families up with Kids Cancer Care to access any of their free programs and services.
She adds, the expansion and accessibility project kicked off in June of last year and their treehouse village at Camp Kindle will be coming online in spring of 2026. Check out more details at kidscancercare.ab.ca.
