The Sundre & District Museum has been recognized in the top ten nationally in the past as a top participating community for Towns and Rural Areas for National Cultural Days.
Executive Director Carrie Couch says they are at it again this year with the help of provincial and national funding grants. The Sundre Museum ranked 8th in its category in 2024.
She points out that guests are going to have the same Culture Days experiences they have come to traditionally enjoy. Couch highlights some of the Alberta Culture Days festivities they have planned for Saturday, September 27th. Couch says “I’m super excited to have the Filipino community of Sundre join our festivities this year and I think that is really great to have them doing a food demonstration too. I know guests have said ‘we want a little bit of food here.’ So that will be kind of nice.”
Couch adds they will have some colouring, and a little more hands on activities as part of this year’s Alberta Culture Days program. Hours on Friday and Saturday are from 10 until 5pm.
She notes that Thursday, September 25th is Indigenous Culture Day at the Sundre Museum with Stoney Nakoda at 11am and Metis at 1, plus other small cultural sharing activities throughout the day.
