The first ever Step ‘n Stride event for the Parkinson Association of Alberta in the Town of Olds is coming tomorrow.
It is an opportunity to help drive awareness and raise funds for those living with or those who love someone with a Parkinson’s disease diagnosis.
Dennis Thompson, a member of the support group of the Parkinson Association of Alberta, points out that there are so many things that affect people with Parkinson’s. He says “one of the things that maybe a lot of people don’t know is Parkinson’s cannot be identified by a test. It is a series of symptoms that people start to notice. I know that neurologists can test for things that it isn’t, but there is no one test right now available for the general population that says – yes, you have Parkinson’s.”
Parkinson’s disease primarily affects motor skills, causing tremors, stiffness, and slow movements, but it also impacts various other aspects of life for individuals.
The Step ‘n Stride event in Olds this Saturday will take place at the Rotary Athletic Park. Register, donate and get involved online at parkinsonassociation.ca.
