Didsbury gearing up for D’Art Steet Fest and Creative People House grand opening

The community of Didsbury will get a chance to showcase their creative talents later next week, with the D’ART Street Festival and Creative People House grand opening on August 1st.

The day is hosted by the Didsbury and District Arts Society and will feature creativity, music and imagination, welcoming art enthusiasts and families to immerse themselves into the talented Didsbury art scene.

The D’Art Street Festival organizer, Diana Steer, says there will be plenty of different things happening between 10am and 8pm next Friday.

“The D’Art Street Festival is on 19th avenue in Didsbury on August 1st and its going to come alive with vibrant colours and sounds. We’re turning the street basically into an open air art gallery and a bustling little market.”

Attendees can explore works by local artists, enjoy “citizen Karaoke” performances throughout the day and discover unique treasures from local shops.

Kids are encouraged to come along and check out the Family Fun Zone for a hands-on art making activity and some games.

Steer says another main highlight of the day is the official opening of the Creative People House.

“This is huge for us, the Creative People House gallery isn’t just an opening, it’s launching an exciting 2 month pop up event. This means it’s a limited time opportunity to check out something really unique. The gallery will be showcasing an incredible collection of works by talented Alberta artists. As a special note for artists out there, our call for submissions has been extended to July 25th.”

If you are interested in showcasing your work at the Creative People House or would like to learn more about the D’Art Street Fest on August 1st, visit the Didsbury and District Arts Society Facebook page.
