Clint’s Neighbourhood Kitchen provides free neighbourhood suppers every Wednesday night.
Chris Andrew, Evening Shift Crew Supervisor, says on Wednesday, July 9th at 5:30pm they are holding a fundraising BBQ. He says “we had a BBQ last year in Centennial Park and it was a huge success we had hundreds of people show up. So we thought we’d like to carry that on this year but with our set up with the neighbourhood meals at the Lutheran Church we thought we have a beautiful front lawn, why not hold it there?” Westview Co-op will be supplying the hot dogs and hamburgers for it.
The Clint’s Kitchen BBQ will run on the front lawn at the Lutheran Church on 52nd Street in Olds. If the weather doesn’t cooperate they will move it inside the church. Andrew notes that tax receipts will be provided for any donations of over $50 dollars. He says a portion of the proceeds will support Kirsten’s Place as well.
The local soup kitchen has been up and running and supporting the community for well over a year now. He says “right now we are good with volunteers. That’s the one thing we are blessed with in our initiative is the hundreds of volunteers that come out, week after week with the prep crews, the serving crews, the clean up. It has just been outstanding what this community has done. Right now we are just looking for somebody that wants to fill their bellies. maybe fill their hearts, you know come out get some fellowship with the community. Have a hot dog and a hamburger.”
