Mountain View County issues fire ban “until further notice”

Officials have issued a fire ban for the entirety of Mountain View County due to ongoing hot, dry conditions in the region.

The ban is effective immediately, and as of June 9th, the Fire Restriction that was previously in place has been upgraded to an outright ban throughout the county.

The county says this comes in large part due to hot, dry, and windy conditions, specifically in the western areas of the county.

Under the ban, no fire or fire work permits will be issued, all existing fire permits are suspended, any ongoing fires must be extinguished immediately, and the use of fireworks is strictly prohibited. The use of barbecues, internal household fireplaces, and AER flaring is still permitted.

The ban will remain in place “until further notice.”
