2025 Stanley Cup Final begins June 4 in Edmonton

The Edmonton Oilers will have a chance to avenge their defeat to the Florida Panthers in last year’s Stanley Cup Final.

The Oilers will host Game 1 of this year’s SCF on Wednesday, June 4th at Rogers Place and they will once again be taking on the Panthers. Game 2 of the best-of-seven battle for hockey’s Holy Grail will also be in Edmonton on Friday, June 6th.

As they continue to carry Canada’s hopes for NHL supremacy this season, the Oilers advanced to the final thanks to a 6-3 win over the Stars in Dallas on Thursday night. Edmonton earned the Western Conference Final title by a 4 games to 1 margin over Dallas.

Meanwhile, the Florida Panthers advanced to their third straight Stanley Cup Final earlier in the week by knocking out the Carolina Hurricanes in 5 games in the East Final.

While the Montreal Canadiens are still the most recent Canadian team to win the Stanley Cup (1993), six of the previous seven Cups for Canada were won by Alberta’s teams. Edmonton with five of those (1990, 1988, 1987, 1985, 1984) and Calgary with one (1989). The Habs also had another (1986) as Canadian club’s kicked the competition to the curb for a seven year period (1984-1990).

Florida beat Edmonton in seven games in the 2024 Stanley Cup Final to capture the first National Hockey League championship in Panthers franchise history.

Edmonton has home ice advantage this year instead of Florida which fans in Alberta’s capital city and across the Great White North hope will lead to a different outcome this time around. The Oilers (48-29-5) finished the 2024-2025 regular season with three more points than the Panthers (47-31-4).

The rest of the schedule for the SCF is as follows and all of the games are set for puck drop at 8 p.m. ET:

Game 3 – Edmonton at Florida – Monday, June 9th.

Game 4 – Edmonton at Florida – Thursday, June 12th.

Game 5 – Florida at Edmonton – Saturday, June 14th (if necessary).

Game 6 – Edmonton at Florida – Tuesday, June 17th (if necessary).

Game 7 – Florida at Edmonton – Friday, June 20th (if necessary).
