Red Deer County man, Sylvan Lake woman facing charges following traffic stop

A traffic stop in the middle of the night by Innisfail RCMP has led to the seizure of drugs and unstamped cigarettes.

It happened shortly after 3am on Thursday, February 27th on Highway 2A.

Mounties pulled over a red Ford F150 and the grounds to arrest the driver and passenger was developed for the possession of the unstamped tobacco. The passenger was also wanted on outstanding warrants and the driver had a taser which is a prohibited weapon.

Among other items Innisfail RCMP uncovered as a result of searching the vehicle were fentanyl, oxycodone pills, plus cocaine – including some that was individually packaged for sale – and a small amount of Canadian currency.

A 40-year-old man from Red Deer County, Michael Stephanson, and a 27 year old woman from Sylvan Lake, Skylyn Robicheau, face charges – including possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. They have been released with conditions and are slated to appear in court in Red Deer on March 27th.

If you see criminal or suspicious activity in your neighbourhood, contact the Innisfail RCMP detachment, your local police, or CRIMESTOPPERS.
