Alberta listed number one in Canada on annual economic freedom report

Alberta is the Canadian province with the highest level of economic freedom.
The annual Economic Freedom of North America report ranks the provinces and states individually for Canada, the United States, and Mexico. It also compares and ranks all states and provinces across all the three countries.
Alberta is tied with four U.S. states at 12th for all of North America, which is up from 41st last year.
British Columbia is the next freest province in the report’s rankings but way behind Alberta at 43rd.
Canada’s four Atlantic provinces have the lowest levels of economic freedom among all provinces and U.S. states. They only outrank the Mexican states and Puerto Rico.
The report is published by the Fraser Institute, an independent, non-partisan, public policy think-tank. The report uses data from 2022 to “measure government spending, taxation, regulations and labour market restrictions.”
