Olds College welcomes in federal funding for applied agriculture research

The federal government is supporting applied agriculture research by providing Olds College of Agriculture & Technology with $1.5 million.
According to a media release, the funding has been made possible through the College and Community Innovation program which includes over $29 million going towards 58 research projects and programs at various post-secondary institutions across the nation.
If you look from the feds side, Todd Ormann – Vice President, Development at Olds College – says “we’ve got that funding and we’ve got other funding from areas like PrairiesCan and those are life bloods. So if you look at that collaboration between federal, partners, and provincial funding that’s what basically keeps that engine humming. So the team has grown our capabilities fairly strong, in which case allows us to apply for that funding. I think that ‘s just a good example of what has happened here in the college the last four or five years in building this research team out that we are now consistently getting grants like that.”
The media release also states that Olds College was ranked fourth last year in the list of Canada’s Top 50 Research Colleges, according to Research Infosource Inc.
Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) also bestowed the honours as the gold recipient of the 2024 Applied Research and Innovation Excellence Award to Olds College in April.
