Weayaya Solar-powered Music Festival – Press release

With the sun beaming down from a blue Alberta sky, the Weayaya Solar-powered Music Festival will fill the Blindman Valley with a sonic serenade by more than a dozen Alberta musical artists and acts. Held in a gorgeous meadow on the banks of the Blindman, Weayaya celebrates the generous power of the sun, tapping a permanent array of panels to bring the festival site to life.

The two-day festival runs July 5 & 6, 2025 and is the only solar powered festival in Canada.

Weayaya exists to encourage the development of environment-first alternative energy sources, and to share, along with a really fine program of music, information and experiences.

The pristine festival and camping facility is located 12 Km south of Rimbey, less than a kilometre west of Highway 20 on Township Road 414.

Since its launch in 2013, Weayaya’s lineup has always covered a lot of musical ground, from harps to hip-hop, gypsy jazz to jukebox favourites. It’s also a great opportunity to hear local songwriting talent as many artists perform their original material. [See the ARTIST LINEUP on our website]. Each year, the festival also features demonstrations and discussions that include Albertans who work in the solar industry.
It’s always been a wonderful opportunity to relax and recharge in a beautiful spot, with wonderful music. Weekend passes include free on-site camping. Saturday, July 5, performances run from noon until 11 pm. Sunday, noon until 6 pm.
