118th Dogpound Stampede Starts At Noon On Wednesday

One of the longest standing rodeos in Alberta is set to take place this week, the 118th annual Dog Pound Stampede goes on July 17th.

Things get started today with the ranch rodeo starting at 4 this afternoon, before the main event at noon on Wednesday.

The Foothills Cowboy Association event features plenty of local cowboys and cowgirls competing in all the usual rodeo events including bull riding, bareback, tie down roping and more.

An Open Air Dance will take place on the grounds, featuring live music from TC and Company.

The event also features wild cow milking, wild pony races and novice horse riding.

The Dogpound Stampede Grounds are south of Cremona on highway 22, then west down township road 290.

The 118th Dog Pound Stampede gets underway on Wednesday at noon, admission is $20 for those 65 and over, $25 for ages 16 and over and, $10 for kids ages 12-15 and kids 11 and under are free.
