Those with an interest in getting on stage are invited to join B.S Productions musical theatre workshop on August 24th, as they are looking to add voices and cast members to their upcoming musical production of Disney’s “Newsies”.
The show is a Broadway musical that promises a story of young newspaper sellers in the streets of New York in 1899.
Jamie Syer is Musical Director with B.S Productions, he says their upcoming musical theatre workshop offers people an opportunity to get familiar with the show.
“We help people discover their acting chops, and their singing voices, and even their dancing feats. So what we want, are people who think that they would enjoy this. It helps if you like singing to start with but you don’t have to feel that you’re a star, because we will find a way to help you feel comfortable on stage.”
The show is expected to debut in February at the Sundre Arts Centre.
Syer says everyone is welcome to come and show off their talents, but to please let them know your coming ahead of time.
“Best way is to go to the Sundre Arts Center website, which is Sundre Arts Center.com /Newsies, and you’ll find our contact information there. We need to know if you’re thinking of coming out on the afternoon of August 24th for the workshop, just so we’re ready to know how many enthusiastic people we will see there. If you want more information about the show, what the music’s like, what the possibilities are for roles, go to Sundre Arts Center.com /Newsies.”
B. S. Productions is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to producing musical theatre in central Alberta, they have done numerous shows over the past decade plus.
Full auditions for “Newsies” will run in September, the musical theatre runs from 2-4PM on Sunday August 24th.
