Beef and Barley Days is this week in Carstairs (July 18-20) and it has been an annual tradition for approaching four decades now.
This will be the 38th edition and Charlie Van Arnam, President of the Carstairs and District Agricultural Society, explains what is new for 2025. He says “we are trying some new things. Some of the things we have tried in the last couple years seem to have run their course and so we are trying like this brew tasting event – beer tasting event – and there will be non-alcoholic beverages there as well but we are trying that, we are trying this inline skating party. Just things to bring the community together as the community changes over the years.”
Van Arnam notes that the Barley Brewfest is on Friday. He says “beer tasting event at the curling club starting at 5 o’clock. 5 until 9 p.m. $10 entry – if you pre-buy your tickets you get two drink tokens with you. There are 10 or 12 different breweries coming for us to sample their wares.”
