Mounties have utilized undercover operations to safely apprehend a high risk individual.
Innisfail RCMP say the offender “has a history of fleeing from police” and “putting the public in extreme danger from his driving and destroying property with stolen vehicles.”
In this case, police were alerted of a stolen truck which was thought to be taken by a known prolific offender on July 3rd.
Innisfail RCMP members collaborated that evening with covert resources from Red Deer and the Central Alberta District in Leduc to locate the stolen truck west of Innisfail. Eventually, the suspect was arrested when he exited the vehicle in the Dickson Dam area and unknowingly tried to borrow a cell phone from a covert RCMP member.
The 25-year-old man has been remanded into custody with a court date in Red Deer on July 18th to answer to charges including failure to comply with probation, possession of stolen property, and operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited.
