Olds resident arrested for child pornography offences

An investigation which began late last month has resulted an arrest and child pornography charges being laid against a 48-year-old man.

He was apprehended at about 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday (June 3rd) after a search warrant was executed at an Olds residence. Olds RCMP received assistance from the Alberta RCMP Law Enforcement Response Team’s (ALERT) Internet Child Explotation (ICE) unit.

The child pornography charges he faces include transmitting, making available, distributing or selling, possession, accessing, plus printing/publishing/making it.

The 48-year-old man has been released but with “an extensive list of conditions after a Judicial Interim Release Hearing” with an upcoming court date in Didsbury set for the 7th of July.

If anyone has information regarding online child exploitation offences, they are encouraged by police to contact their local RCMP detachment or go online to www.cybertip.ca.

In a media release, Sergeant Jamie Day – Commander of Olds RCMP – points out that “Olds RCMP remains fully committed in building safer communities by working in partnership with our community, as well as through investigative and enforcement efforts to achieve this goal.” He also thanked ALERT’s ICE unit for assisting in this case.
