The Alberta RCMP is encouraging drivers to take extra care while driving on the highways during the upcoming province-wide highway cleanup on May 3rd.
According to the RCMP, the campaign will involve more than 12,000 participants- 8,000 of which will be children from 4H Clubs, Junior Forest Wardens, and other youth groups.
Drivers can keep an eye out for participants wearing orange safety vests, and officials say there will be caution posters placed adjacent to clean-up areas. Police are asking commuters to slow down in marked areas, and to be aware of increased foot traffic.
Additionally, law enforcement says there will be additional patrols across provincial highways to enforce traffic safety and prevent speeding.
The cleanup is scheduled for May 3rd from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., weather permitting.
