Mountain View Mavericks Heading To Founders Cup National Championship In Hamilton

The Mountain View Mavericks are the Alberta representative for the 2024 Founders Cup in Hamilton, Ontario.

The Mavericks qualified after a 2nd place finish at the Larry Bishop Memorial Tournament, held over the Heritage Day Long Weekend.

Mountain View advanced the gold medal game of the provincial championship following a 3-1 run in round robin play.

The Mavs defeated the Calgary Shamrocks, Rockyview Silvertips and Fort Saskatchewan Rebels, while losing to the Winnipeg Blizzard in their final round robin game.

The Blizzard would eventually go on to win the Larry Bishop Memorial Tournament, defeating the Mavericks in the gold medal game by a score of 9-2.

The Mavericks will now turn their attention to raising as much money as they can, to get the team to the Founders Cup in under 10 days time.

Mavericks Captain, Ryley Lodermeier, says the team will be at Suds Station Car Wash in Penhold this Saturday between 10-2, before their team banquet and awards night at the Innisfail Legion.

“We’re doing our banquet on Saturday, come out and support. Buy your tickets for $25. We’re still looking for silent auction items for it too. We’re looking for sponsorships as well, letters are available on our social media. Every little bit of money and support from the community is greatly appreciated, we’re going to need all the help we can get.”

Lodermeier says their target is around $30,000, with hopes to take off on the 18th for Hamilton.

The Founders Cup Junior B Lacrosse National Championship tournament will be held August 19th to 25th at the Dave Andreychuk Arena in Hamilton.

Tickets to the Mountain View Mavericks banquet are $25, email BradB.MavericksLax@gmail.com to get yours.
