The Town of Didsbury heads into 2026 with a new Mayor and an almost entirely new roster of councillors after last fall’s municipal election.
Mayor Chris Little discusses how the group has been coming together so far. He says “you know what? I think it has gone really, really well. I mean it has been a very steep learning curve because the council is almost entirely new with the exception of Curt Engel – who was an incumbent. So we all had a lot to learn but we are all getting along very well and even though we all come from different backgrounds, we seem to be of one mind when it comes to much of what we talk about. So I think we are going to work very well together and I think we have a great four years ahead of us, and hopefully more.”
He points out that community engagement will be something Didsbury council will be doing again in the new year. Mayor Little says “we felt like coming out of the election we had a pretty strong mandate from the Town of Didsbury as to what they wanted to see from us in the budget but we would like to meet with them again. We are going to hold a forum in January – an open format forum and talk about the budget but talk about future needs and what the community sees as priorities going into 2027, so that we can start to build a long term strategic plan.”
Mayor Little adds, because Didsbury is a bit of an older community they will have to prioritize some major work that needs to be done when it comes to road upgrades, infrastructure upgrades, plus water/sewer and more.
