Clover Community Classic 4-H show and sale results

4-H members were at the Cow Palace on the Olds Regional Exhibition grounds earlier this week for the Clover Community Classic show and sale.

13-year-old Liam Havens with the Crossfield Madden 4-H Beef Club is in his fourth year of 4-H and he had the grand champion steer which also comes with a $2,000 educational award bursary. Havens says “I feel really good. I won it last year and this year was kind of a surprise. A nice little add on. I’d like to thank Fletcher Cattle company.”

Havens says his grand champion steer named Lieutenant Dan is a Charolais-Angus cross from his cousin Keith Evans with Bar E-V Cattle.

Brynn Hagel – also with Crossfield Madden 4-H – had the Clover Community Classic’s reserve grand champion steer. For it she also received an educational award bursary of $1,000 presented by Southern Cross. Hagel says “I was very happy about it. I’m still undecided on what I’m doing after high school but this will help give me some piece of mind that whatever I want to do it will be a little bit easier to accomplish.”
