A tailgate party at Normie Kwong Park last week helped generate some excitement for the upcoming Olds amateur football season.
Dean Duquette, Head Coach of the Pee Wee Huskies, points out that they play 9-man football and it is for kids ages 9 to 12. He says “it is a great spot to learn. Everybody is younger and in a lot of cases everybody is just learning at this level. So if you have ever been interested in football and want to come out and learn how it works. Pee Wee is great level to get started.”
Go to the Olds Huskies and Bulldogs Football Facebook page for more details and to sign up before June 30th. Duquette says “we definitely want to see at least 20 kids come August. We are short of that right now but we had a really good turnout at our tailgate party (May 1st) and garnered some interest I think. So, yeah, we are looking for 20 at least come August and would love to have more, love to have up to 30.”
A spring conditioning camp for both the Huskies and the Bulldogs is coming up later this month. The Bulldogs are looking for players ages 13 to 15.
The Olds Amateur Football Association season runs from August until November.
