The 2025 Operating Budget for the Town of Didsbury was given the green light at last week’s council meeting.
Mayor Rhonda Hunter says it is a balanced budget with total estimated revenues of just over $13.6 million ($13,690,587) and a matching amount of expenditures. She highlights the fact that revenue from taxes that will be collected from ratepayers for this budget will have an increase of 3.93 per cent over 2024 and council will now move forward to set the tax rate at an upcoming meeting in April. She says “most property assessments are higher this year and to homeowners this means their properties are worth more. Thanks to all the development over the past few years, we also have a significant increase in new assessments which will help offset taxes across the board.”
Meanwhile, Mayor Hunter adds, that the Department of Engineering & infrastructure has recommended that road bans be implemented within the municipal boundaries for the protection and preservation of the Town’s roadways. She says “to watch for road ban signage in places including 7th Avenue, 23rd Street, Range Road 15/10th Street, and 15th Avenue during the spring and fall of this year.”
Mayor Hunter also points out that the Town of Didsbury now has two level one Community Peace officers – a priority set by council during this term.
