Alberta’s Premier receives massive support in leadership review vote at UCP AGM

United Conservative Party members converged on Red Deer for their annual general meeting over the weekend.

The UCP’s 2024 AGM included a vote by the members on the performance of their leader so far.

It was revealed on Saturday (November 2nd) evening that Premier Danielle Smith received 91.5 per cent support in the vote.

According to the United Conservative Party, over 6,000 members signed up for the AGM and more than 4,600 ballots were cast in the leadership review.

Smith took to social media to express her heartfelt graditiude to the UCP members for their support and stated “together, we will ensure that Alberta remains a province that upholds the values that have established us as a beacon of hope, freedom, and prosperity.”

Devin Dreeshen – Alberta’s Minister of Transportation and Economic Corridors, and the MLA for Innisfail-Sylvan Lake – noted on social media that “Alberta’s Conservatives are more united than ever.” He added, “Let’s continue to work hard, and make Alberta the best place to live, work, and raise a family.”

Jason Nixon – Alberta’s Minister of Seniors, Community and Social Services, and the MLA for Rimbey-Rocky Mountain House-Sundre – stated on social media “it was great to connect with so many UCP members” including over 250 attendees from his constituency. He added, “our United Conservative Party is stronger and more united than ever before.”
